Gracia “Lou” Beck, age 90, died in her home in Brighton, Colorado on June 3, 2017.

 

Lou was born on March 27, 1927 in Wichita, KS to Herman and Fannie (Thurston) Bundren. She attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence where she met fellow student, Bill Beck.

 

Throughout the years, Lou worked as a stenographer, pursued a modeling career, taught first grade at Nelson Elementary in Haysville, KS and was a homemaker.

 

Lou and Bill welcomed four children into their home. They raised their family in the Haysville, KS area and then retired to Harrisonville, MO, where they spent 20 happy years with family and friends.

 

Lou enjoyed many hobbies. Building and furnishing miniature doll houses was a hobby shared with her husband, Bill. Lou also collected dolls that she refurbished and donated to charity.

 

Lou moved to Colorado in 2014 with her daughter, Amy and grandson, Ryan. Lou passed away peacefully in her home after a short illness. She will be remembered as a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.

 

Lou is survived by her daughters, Jill Holeman (Clarence) of Manhattan, KS and Amy Beck of Keenesburg, CO, grandsons Ryan Jack, Will Holeman (Allie) and Pete Holeman and niece, Doris Hollinger.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband William E. “Bill” Beck, daughter Karen Beck, son Brian Beck and sister Nadine Nelson.

 

Both Lou and Bill were cremated and will be interred at a later date in the family plot at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Wichita, KS.
