Grace Everett Shumate, age 87, of Newnan passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2008. Mrs. Shumate was born in Bulloch County, GA. to the late James & Sara (Hagin) Everett. She attended the Georgia Teachers College in Statesboro, GA. She married the late John Shumate in 1943 and moved to Jackson, MS after WWII. After moving to Jackson, MS she worked for the Credit Bureau of Jackson and the Workman’s Compensation Division for the State of Mississippi. In recent years she moved back to Georgia to be near her family whom she loved very much.
She is survived by her daughter, Harriet Mangum of Newnan and Johnny Shumate of Ocala, FL. Also surviving are grandchildren, Andy Mangum of Atlanta, GA and Hans Shumate of Ocala, FL. Brother Loy Everett of Dallas, TX. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband and several brothers and sisters. There are no services planned at this time.
