Norris, Grace Evelyn Wheelera€”born May 27, 1922 in Birmingham, died September 5, 2012 following a brief illness. A cheerleader who married her high school football sweetheart, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Grace had an everlasting passion for dance and music that continued into her wheel chair days. She loved her community, Lifetime JBY Ball Room Dance Club membership, Birmingham Fire Fighters Ladies Auxiliary Officer, charter member of “Retired and Loving It” and P.A.C.E. Her creative talents with arts and crafts, various musical instruments and dance brought joy and laughter to many. Employed by Liberty National Life, she later assisted her husband in their printing and photographic business. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, for whom she often beaked elaborately-decorated birthday cakes, and she also loved ballroom dancing with her husband. She is preceded in death by her parents, Major Aleck Wheeler and Ruby Leona Bearden Wheeler, four brothers, Major, Roy, Virgil and Buddy Wheeler; sister Leona Wheeler Reid; and husband of 58 years, C.D. “Cabe” Norris, Jr. and son, C.D. “Buster” Norris III. She is survived by daughter Betty Grace (Dr. Richard) Meyer and daughter-in-law Suzanne Sherman Norris and three grandsons, C.D. “Rance” (Jennifer)Norris V, Barry Sherman Norris and Steven Michael Norris, and seven great grandchildren, Quintin, Blake, Natalie, Max, Sam, Matthew and Will Norris of Birmingham and many nieces and nephews.
