Grace Marie Hartness, 105, of East Peoria, IL passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Lutheran Hillside Village-Emmanuel Place in Peoria, comfortably and peacefully in her sleep.
She moved to Peoria in the early 1930’s and married John Hartness on June 16, 1940 in Davenport, IA. He passed away on December 25, 2005. Also preceding her in death were brothers Emil Lacina in 1994, Glenn Lacina and Milton Lacina in 2017, sisters Irene Pekarek in 2008 and Genevieve Roezler along with one infant brother and one infant sister. Also preceding her in death were nieces and nephews Adeline, Delores, Joe, Dorothy, Jim and Bill.
Surviving are one daughter Patrica Ann (Lawrence) DeCapp of East Peoria one grandson Kent Michael DeCapp and his children Kaleb Joseph DeCapp and Kylee Marie DeCapp. Also surviving in the family is her only grand-daughter in law Hallie (Ripley) DeCapp who was with her at her passing. Also surviving are nieces and nephews Bob, Raymond, Mabel, Don, Tom, Linda, and Lois, Jill, Judy, David, Clinton Martha, Larry, Roger, Cynthia, Sharon, Dewayne.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a true inspiration for her entire family and guide for life. Her impact on those she knew was truly a blessing. The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at both Lutheran Hillside Village/Emmanuel Place and Harbor Light Hospice.
During WWII she worked in a machine shop in quality control and at Fleming Potter in labeling.
