LOUISE KLAHR
Grace Louise “Weise” Klahr, 87, of Caldwell, Idaho died of natural causes in Nampa Wednesday, August 17, 2011.
Grace Louise was born June 25, 1924 at Vale, Oregon, the daughter of John Henry and Lula Bell Eads Hinton. Reared in southeast Oregon, Louise attended school at Kingman Colony, Wade, Rockville, and Adrian. She was Adrian High School Valedictorian, Harvest Ball Queen, and Girls League and class VP, a member of GAA, the annual staff, drama club, majorettes, and cheer leading squad. She participated in softball, basketball, volleyball, track, and tumbling. Louise worked at Holly’s general store in Adrian the summer after her 1942 graduation. A Boise Business University graduate, she also attended a semester at Oregon State University, Corvallis. She was an accomplished horsewoman and former princess of the Vale Rodeo, chosen Miss Adrian and runner-up for Miss Malheur County at the Ontario fair and rodeo.
Louise Hinton married the love of her life, “Cub” Carl Robert Klahr, November 5, 1944 at the Kimball Ave.
At that time, two years after the birth of her pride and joy, Lon Robert Klahr, Weise chose the career path for which she is remembered most, that of loving wife, adoring mother, faithful friend, and pillar of the community.
Louise spent decades as co-owner and adept bookkeeper of Klahr Farms and CarLou Racing Stables. She was active in Notus and Vallivue PTA, Lodge #1448 Lady Elks, the Jockey Club, and Idaho associations of Horse Racing and Thoroughbred Breeders. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, pinochle, dancing, sporting events, rodeos, and horse races. She liked baby animals, the color blue, roses, and lilacs in the spring. She loved horses, dogs, and family. She enriched our lives.
Weise is survived by her sister, LaVone “Tiny” Luby of Greenleaf, granddaughter Kim Nopens and husband Jason, and great-grandson Kannon Klahr of Caldwell, several nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Her parents, husband Carl, and son Lon preceded her in death.
The family expresses gratitude to the staffs of Karcher Estates, hospice, and home healthcare providers for the loving care and comfort extended.
