Grace Ethel Andrews (nee Palmateer), 81, of Lebanon, IL, and former longtime resident of Bennington, VT, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, June 23, 2016. Grace was born June 16, 1935, in Troy, NY, to Richard and Catherine Palmateer (nee Cronin). After finishing high school, Grace married Donald Sargood in Berlin, NY in 1955 and had two children together; Donald Sargood, Jr. and Vanessa Sargood, before divorcing in the 1960’s. Grace then married Erbert “Herb” Andrews in Bennington, VT in 1970 and had one child together; Brian Andrews.

For many years, Grace and Herb owned and ran the Busy Bee Florist and Gift Shops in Bennington together. They also owned harness racing horses which they raced mainly at Hinsdale Racetrack in New Hampshire. After Herb’s passing in 1995, Grace moved to O’Fallon, IL, and took up floral arrangements at a local florist shop before retiring. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading, playing bingo, and spending time with her family.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents; Richard and Catherine Palmateer (nee Cronin), her beloved husband; Herb Andrews, and one sister; Christine Lapp (nee Palmateer). Grace is survived by her three children; Donald (Sandra) Sargood Jr. of Hoosick Falls, NY, Vanessa (Dale) McCollum of Stuttgart, Germany, and Brian Andrews of San Francisco, CA, three siblings; Richard Palmateer, Jr. of Tucson, AZ, Joanne Harrington of Bennington, VT, and Barbara Wilson of TN, four grandchildren; Jamie Gould of Shiloh, IL, Dale (Carrie) McCollum II of TX, Nisha (Tony) Brown of Hernando, MS, and Ryan Andrews of Bennington, VT, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
