Lakeland – Grace Doris Ingram Cromer, 90, passed on to eternal life Tuesday, February 4, 2014, as a result of natural causes.
Mrs. Cromer was born December 10, 1923 in San Paulo, Brazil to missionary parents, Dr. E.A. “Happy” and Lola Ingram. On December 18, 1941, she married Daniel Hagan Cromer, a member of the United States Air Force. They spent the next thirty years moving frequently from air base to air base as Mr. Cromer’s duty stations changed. In 1966, Mr. Cromer retired and the family moved to Florida. Mrs. Cromer was employed by the Polk County School Board where she served as an art teacher at Lakeland High School until her retirement in 1977.
Mrs. Cromer’s family described her as a teacher, artist, friend, wife and mother extraordinaire. She personified her name, Grace, by living her life by the Christian principles of charity, loving kindness, industry and faith.
In her last days, Mrs. Cromer was lovingly cared for by her family as well as the staff of both Palliative Care at LRMC and Compassionate Care Hospice. Words cannot express the sadness of the loss felt by those who loved her.
Mrs. Cromer was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Daniel H. Cromer, Sr. She is survived by her sons, Daniel H. Cromer, Jr. and his wife, Cathy, Charles Cromer, John Cromer, Edrew Cromer and his wife, Barbara and William Cromer; daughters, Anne Sapp and her husband, Sam and Tincy German and her husband, Steve; sisters, Ann and Elizabeth; brother, Walter; 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; and many other loving family members and dear friends.
