HAVERHILL – Grace Ann Scatamacchia, 92, longtime resident of Bradford, MA passed away peacefully on November 24, with her loving family and caregivers by her side after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Grace was born in Haverhill on July 10, 1928. She was the beloved daughter of the late Gaetano and Inesia Pascucci, born the youngest of twelve children. After graduating from Haverhill High School, she worked as a bank teller and later in life as a medical secretary. She met and married her loving husband, Nicholas and together they raised a beautiful family of seven children, all instilled with Grace and Nick’s strong moral ethics. During prime quiet time, they enjoyed watching sports and the news together. Grace was lost after Nick’s death in 2004.
Grace was a devout Catholic who called Sacred Hearts Parish her home and volunteered for many years at Bingo to support the school, which she cherished. She was proud of her Italian heritage and made the best sauce in Bradford. She loved family above all. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her, and there was not a thing she would not indulge them. She was the biggest fan at many a soccer game, swim or track meet, or basketball game. She enjoyed reading, knitting and sewing. Her special hand-sewn outfits were always the talk of each annual Noonan piano recital. She also enjoyed walking and running, with daily excursions around her home. Her favorite place to be was the beach with the sound of the ocean in her ear and the sun on her face. Her passing is bittersweet. While many hearts are now broken, she is finally free of Alzheimer’s grip.
Grace is survived by all of her children, Ronald P. Scatamacchia and his wife Maryanne, Russell J. Scatamacchia, Susan A. Afonso and her husband Rui, Sandra J. Khoury and her husband Douglas, Sheila J. Jenkins and her husband Scott, Stephany A. Quinlan and her husband Timothy and Richard S. Scatamacchia. She leaves eight beloved grandchildren, Meghan, Brian, Cameron, and Taylor Khoury, Alexander and Christopher Afonso and Katelyn and Carli Quinlan.
