Gordon Arthur Moritz was born December 13, 1920 south of Stanton the son of Arthur Paul and Henrietta Marie (Fisher) Moritz. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Johns Lutheran Church, Stanton. He grew up on the farm seven miles south of Stanton and graduated from Stanton High School in 1939.
Gordon was an active member in St. Johns Lutheran Church being very involved in the building of the present church at the corner of Benjamin and Hwy 81.
Gordon with Gladys have spent the last three years at St. Josephs Care Center and Skyview Villa.
Survivors include his wife Gladys of Norfolk, two daughters Pat Nielsen of McCook, and Cindy McKusick of Hillsborough, New Hampshire, two granddaughter Rachel (Wayland) Hudgins and their sons Derek and Damon of Chesterfield, Virginia, Michaelia (Travis) Reeves and their son Elijah of Waverly, New York, four grandsons Matthew (Angie) Nielsen and their children Isaac and Abigail of McCook and Nathan Nielsen and his sons Alexander and Aaron of McCook, Joshua (Micalagh) Moritz of Harrisburg, PA, and Bill (Judy), McKusick and their daughters Siarah, Adalynn and Alyssa of Wellsburg, New York, two sisters Ruth Uecker of Norfolk and Shirley Yonke of Bloomfield, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son in-law Gary Nielsen, and an infant brother.
