Gordon Lambert Rogers, 84, joined the Kingdom Triumphant on Thursday June 13, 2013. He was a resident of Greenwood and formerly of Southport, Edinburgh, North Vernon and Zephyrhills, Florida.
Gordon was born Dec. 23, 1928 in Hayesville, North Carolina to the late Charles T. and Viola (Barnes) Rogers.
He married Mary Ellen Adams on June 3, 1950 in Kentucky; they recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary.
Gordon was a business owner in the Edinburgh and Indianapolis areas for 28 years.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, crossword puzzles, reading and playing pool and ping pong.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Rogers of Greenwood, five children, Carolyn (Gary) Chelf of Jonesville, James (Janet) Rogers and Barbara (David) Lawson both of Greenwood, Peggy (Michael) Loomis of Illinois and Paula (Bill) Daniels of Arizona, 13 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Lumus Rogers, Arlecia Tilson, Oma Barnes, Lorn Rogers and Lawrence Rogers and son-in-law, Steven D. Shaw.
