Gordon F. (Gordie) Hansen, age 84, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer.

Gordon was born August 12, 1938 in Wisconsin Rapids to Carl and Leona (Zimmerman) Hansen.  He married Emily Lubeck on April 22, 1961 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vesper.  They were blessed with 61 years of marriage.

He worked as a tow motor operator at Consolidated Papers Inc. until his retirement.

Gordon enjoyed taking care of his hobby farm and tending to his vegetable garden.  He loved spending time with family and friends, traveling throughout Wisconsin, and camping with his grandchildren.  He was the proud owner of a 1930 Chevy Coupe and enjoyed watching old western movies and the Andy Griffith Show.  He had a good sense of humor and liked to joke around.  He was a faithful member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and was very active with their Veterans of the Cross men’s group.

Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Emily; children: Penny (Dennis) Pelot and Tim (Kim) Hansen; daughter-in-law, Sharon (Frank) Cammarata; grandchildren: Misti Seidel, Ashley (Justin Hamm) Seidel, Dennis (Rachel) Pelot, Daniel (Rachel) Pelot, Brynn Pelot, Jessica (Jeremy) File, Lindsay Hansen, Mason Mahoney, Jacob (fiancée Danika) Mahoney, Lucas Mahoney, Victoria (fiancé Matt) Hansen, and Kristin Hansen; great-grandchildren: Allison, Emma, Vance, Corbin, and Lainey; sister Marie Austin; brother David (Carol) Hansen; brother-in-law Howard (Rissy) Lubeck; sisters-in-law: Carol Tomfohrde, Marilyn Lubeck, and Judy Lubeck; many nieces and nephews; and special friend Wendell Eastling. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; son Michael; brother Donald (Betsy) Hansen; and brothers-in-law: Gene Austin, David Lubeck, Gilbert (Butch) Tomfohrde, Wayne Lubeck, and Gordon (Lela) Lubeck.

The family would like to thank the pastoral staff at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church for visiting Gordon throughout his hospital stay, and also the doctors and nurses and staff at Aspirus Riverview Hospital for the care he received.
