Gordon Courtney Jr., age 72, passed away on June 4, 2012 while under hospice care at his home in Englewood, Colorado.

He was born November 11, 1939 in Marceline, Missouri, the fourth of seven children born to parents Gordon Courtney Sr. and Kathleen (Olinger) Courtney.  Their family moved to Denver, Colorado in 1942 where Gordon graduated from South High School in 1959.

After high school, Gordon worked in the machine shop at General Iron Works in Englewood, continuing work there until the facility closed in 1985.  He was also a bowling alley/pro-shop worker at Belleview Bowl in Englewood from 1977 to 1986.  Finally, he worked as a station attendant with Duggan Petroleum Company in Sheridan from 1987 to 2004.

He was married to the former Peggy Kroon of Golden from 1964 to 1988, with whom he raised four wonderful children:  Pamela Gayle, Gordon Daniel, Curtis Edwin, and Phillip Edward.

In his early years, he loved bowling, hunting, and fishing.  He loved fast-pitch softball, where he played 3rd base as close to home plate as anyone ever played it.  Each spring and summer, he devoted numerous hours to his garden, caring for his tomato and pepper plants.
