Gordon A. Dienhart, 86, died peacefully at his home Tuesday, September 26, 2017 surrounded by his loving family and friend at his rural West Lafayette home.

Born March 11, 1931 in Wabash Township, son of the late Tony Dienhart and Esther Humphrey Dienhart. He attended Klondike High School. Gordon married Marjorie J. Beutler Dienhart December 23, 1951 in Lafayette. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1951 and served with the 82nd Airborne Division for 2 years at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. Gordon owned and operated Dienhart’s Auto Body shop at Par View Golf Course. He also drove for Tippecanoe School Corporation for 30 years.

He raced his stock car at Chase Speedway in the late 70’s and 80’s. His favorite past time was watching races on TV, his favorite driver was Jeff Gordon. He also loved to re-store cars for his customers including his own Classic Car Collection, his pride and joy was his 1928 Plymouth which he took to car shows with his wife and children. He most enjoyed summer camping trips and water skiing with his family at Lake of the Ozarks.

Surviving with his wife of 66 years is his son Michael and wife Chris Dienhart of Oakland City; daughters, Sharon and husband Bill Dilts of Lafayette, Nancy and husband Eric Tyrrell of Mulberry; his brother, George Dienhart of West Lafayette; his sister Carole and brother-in-law Mick Smith in FL; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey K. Dienhart and Granddaughter Kristy L. Siefert Huxford. Also, 2 brothers, Alvin and Ralph and 2 sisters, Dorothy Zimmerman and Evelyn Frager.
