Glynda Oglesby Gister, 71, of 240 Yale Avenue, New Haven passed away suddenly at her home on Dec. 13, 2010. Mrs. Gister was born in Georgia on Dec. 18, 1938, daughter of the late Elmer and Doris Nelson Oglesby. She was the proprietor of Mirabelle, a quality children’s clothing store on Whalley Avenue in the WestvilleVillage section of New Haven. She developed a loyal following of parents and grandparents who patronized her shop and she became friends with all her clients. The Village and its merchants mourn the loss of Glynda. It will not be the same without her. She will be remembered as a sweet, kind, loving and caring mother, grandmother, friend, merchant and lover of animals. She never had a bad word for anyone, and greeted everyone with her kind smile and sweet voice. In her early years, she worked as a nurse. She is survived by her husband, Earle Gister; three sons, Carey (Cynthia) Gister of San Francisco, Brian Gister of New York City and Andrew Gister of New Haven, with whom she resided; a brother, Joseph Oglesby in Georgia; and two grandchildren, Reed and Zoey Gister.
