Ms. Glossie Ree Carter, 57, of 601 Thomas St., died circa June 4, 2007 at her residence after a short period of illness.

Ms. Carter was born February 2, 1950 in Thomasville, a daughter of Ollie and Clara Shumpert Carter, who both preceded her in death. A life-long resident of Thomasville, she was a 1968 graduate of Church Street High School, and a former employee of Thomasville Furniture Company.

Two sisters and two brothers also preceded her in death.

Survivors include five brothers, James Carter, Sr. of Thomasville, Elbert Carter, of Gastonia, N.C., Ace Carter of Bronx, N.Y., Ulysses Carter of Washington, D.C., and Earl (Gwen) Carter of Spring Lake, N.C.; five sisters, Clara James of Patterson, N.J., Alberta Hunter of Bronx, N.Y., Eulalia (James) Huggins of Thomasville, Ethel (Gene) Linder of Bronx, N.Y., and Linda Carter of Thomasville; a special niece, Gracie Hopkins of Thomasville; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
