Gloria Jean Fournier, age 75, of Cass Lake, MN, began her spiritual journey on Sunday July 19, 2020 at her home in Cass Lake with all her family by her side. She was born on January 18, 1945 at the White Earth Hospital, the daughter of Isiah and Margaret (Oshkinowe) French.
Gloria was raised in Pine Point up until she was fourteen years old. She moved to the cities, where she met Louis Fournier. The two were married on August 29, 1967 in Sisseton, SD. They lived in Tomah, Wi and Jordan, MN for a few years before moving to Cass Lake. Gloria wasn’t afraid of hard work, spending most of her adult life working alongside her husband Louis.
She achieved her accounting degree from Bemidji Vo-tech, and she used those skills to manage many family-owned businesses, including Fournier Logging. She obtained her CDL and did over-the-road trucking with Louis, where she often drove through big cities like Chicago and Philadelphia. Gloria also worked for the federal government for ten years in the OST program which dealt with Tribal Lands and Allotments. It was there that she met her best friends and travel buddies, Cheryl and Carol. Many happy memories were made with “The Gang” including Dave and Cheryl Holk, Earl and Carol Chico, Nancy Foster, Delaphine Thomas and Jim Allen. These were the party people she liked to be around.
Gloria loved to work crossword puzzles (with Ink). She also loved to collect stamps and travel. One of Gloria’s favorite places to visit was Las Vegas. She liked hitting the casinos. She will be missed by all her family and friends, especially her trusty little dog, Shorty.
The family that Gloria joins again are her parents, her husband, Louis; three sons, Wayne, Bernard and Richard; sisters Linda Dormanen, Jane Pedersen and Lorraine Leritz; one brother, Marvin French, and one grandson, Junior Conner.
Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are daughters; Bonita (Terry) Conner of Cass Lake, Melanie Fischer of Woodbridge, VA, Karen (Steve) Goss of Laporte, MN, and Millie (Jeff) Baird of Cass Lake, MN, sister; Janis Rock of Becida, brothers; Virgil (Martha) French of Ponsford, MN, John (Kathy) French of Ponsford, MN, and Dean Davis of Cass Lake, daughter-in-law; Robyne Fournier, special cousins Darrel and Caroll Clark, 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
