Gloria Jean Elizabeth Otto, our beautiful mother, wife, grandmother, and friend was welcomed into the arms of her loving Savior on August 21, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Gloria was born on April 22, 1946 and raised by her mother, Marian Sarah Elmer and her grandmother, Sarah Schindler Elmer in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

She graduated from Rufus King High School in 1963 and then attended beautician school. Education was very important to her and she saw to it that her children received every learning experience possible. Then, at age 52, she began her own college experience, graduating in 2002 from Alverno College with a degree in communication and teaching.

Gloria married Samuel J. Otto in 1979 and together they raised five children – Jeffrey, Suzette, Paul, Jeanel, and Richard. Gloria loved her family and did anything that was necessary to take care of their needs. Gloria was a lifetime athlete, enjoying bowling, softball, tennis, golf, and of course competitive shopping. Gloria was a creative soul and loved the feeling of accomplishment at the completion of her projects. She was not satisfied until she “nailed it”. She loved both building and remodeling houses and was truly gifted at creating a beautiful home for her family. Gloria was passionate about teaching and had many opportunities to share the joy of the gospel of Jesus Christ in her daily interactions, and serving in various callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including a senior mission with her husband in the Dominican Republic where she taught English and served in the temple.

Gloria is survived by her husband of 43 years, Samuel J Otto; her five children, Jeffery (Joni), Suzette Hughes (G. Foster), Paul (Amy), Jeanel Stanley (Bruce), and Richard (Page); her 23 grandchildren: Justin, Jaclyn, Jana Otto; Casey, Michael, Spencer, Sam, Sadie, Ali, Wilson Greer; Braden, Brooklyn, Garrett, Jace Otto; Landon, Xander, Ryker Stanley; Carson, Everett, Faye, Isla, Vera, Weston Otto. Nine great grandchildren: Ely, Jane France; Max, Maraykah, Johari, Kate, Jamal, Jack, Luella Greer. Her sisters-in-law, Margie Buxbaum (Dick) and Judy Wojta (Art, deceased).

Gloria lived a full and warm life filled with joy. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.
