Gloria Elda Gonzalez, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 10, 2022 at Harlingen Medical Center.
She was born on March 27, 1950 in Harlingen to Louis Gonzales Sr. and Francisca Gonzales from Primera, Texas.
She was a lifetime resident of Harlingen and at the time of her death was a member of Cross Church in San Benito, Texas. Gloria was a professional secretary for most of her life. She worked at Dolly Vinsant Memorial Hospital in San Benito, U.S. Border Patrol and the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service in Harlingen until retiring in 1996. Gloria loved to send out daily Bible verses and Devotionals to all of her family and friends. An avid reader she would always keep notes on many of the Christian programs she enjoyed watching. Gloria also enjoyed playing Christian songs on the piano, and watching cooking & comedy shows. Her favorite pastime was watching Hallmark movies. Gloria was a 1968 graduate of Harlingen High School and a Cardinal Football fan who enjoyed supporting the team for many years. Gloria’s favorite time of the year was Christmas. She enjoyed giving so much, but she was always blessed more in return. Sister’s Day, was a very special and important day she treasured because it was her day with her sister’s MaryAnn, Adela and Alice. Gloria was loved by so many people because of her compassion and love for GOD. She was a prayer warrior, rock, confidant and a disciple for Jesus.
Gloria is survived by Jose ( Joe ) M. Gonzalez, her loving husband of 47 years. She is also survived by her family, brothers, Louis Jr.(Olga) Gonzales from Primera , Johnny (Eliza) Gonzalez of Harlingen, Rick (Rosia) Gonzales of West Monroe La.; sisters, Alice Campos of Edinburg, MaryAnn Villafaña of Harlingen, and Adela Marie (Daven ) Tedeton of Gonzales, La.; father-in-law, Raul D. Gonzalez of Harlingen who she always called Dad, and many nieces and nephews.
Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, father, Louis Gonzales Sr.; mother, Francisca Gonzales; brother, Ernesto Gonzalez from Primera; brother-in-law, Luis Villafaña; Godson, Sammy Gonzales; nieces, Baby Aliyah Faith Ramirez from San Benito and Raquel Alicia Campos; and mother-in-law, Luz R. Gonzalez (Mom).
Gloria was a devoted Christian, Wife, Sister, Aunt, and Friend.
There will be NO gravesite service.
A special thanks to Dr. Todd Shenkenberg and all nurses assigned to ICU POD B at Harlingen Medical Center for their attention and care of Gloria while she was there.
