With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Gloria Sierra, of Denver. She was only 71 when she was called home on February 25. Her death has been a devastating blow to her family, who can attest that Gloria’s strong-willed spirit still had so much to give and live.

She was born on December 8, 1950 and spent the first part of her life in Adams County (Goat Hill), surrounded by the love of her parents, Joe and Cora Sierra. She attended Westminster High School and eventually moved to Denver, becoming a lifelong Denver Bronco fan.

In her younger years, Gloria loved music, dancing and socializing. She had a soft spot for animals, especially her loyal Jack Russel Terrier, Daisy.

A beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Gloria is survived by her three children, Laura Breeze (James) of Denver, Tanya Sierra (Aaron) of San Diego, Azul Javier Ruiz-Sierra, of Denver, her sister, Judy Madrid of Wheat Ridge, her life partner, Matthew Del Pino, and many grandchildren, including Maria Armenta (Adam) Cierra Breeze and great-grandson Aiden Armenta. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Sierra and Cora Ortega Sierra.

Her family is comforted by the fact that in her final months, she spent quality time in San Diego, with her daughter, Tanya. There, she developed a taste for In-N-Out burgers, a love of palm trees and strolls in Old Town.

She will be forever loved, missed and remembered.
