Glenn T. Ware Sr., 74, of Elkhart, passed away at 7:40 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at his home, where he had been battling a prolonged illness for the past 22 years.
He was born in Pope, Miss., Feb. 13, 1942, to the late Roy L. and Adlena (Henderson) Ware, the sixth child of seven brothers and one sister.
After serving honorably in the U.S. Army as a medic and dental technician, he returned from Seoul, South Korea and married his high school sweetheart Idella M. Buckley on July 31, 1967.
She survives along with their children, Glenn (Nicole) Ware Jr. and Daphne Harrison; his precious grandchildren, Mason Ware and Tybiah and Mikaelyn Harrison; sister Dimple “Jeannie” Langford of Batesville, Miss.; and brothers Elvin Ware of Elkhart and Larry (Suzette) Ware of Coffeeville, Miss. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Glenn was baptized Nov. 23, 1975, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and was well known for his strong work ethic, generosity, and devotion to his family and faith.
Glenn started his own general contracting business many years ago, known as Glenn Ware’s Remodeling and Contracting. His crowning achievement was his ability to build a home for his parents in Pope. In his free time, Glenn enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, tending to his lawn and cooking his famously delicious barbecue.
