Glenn Patrick (Papaw) Phipps was born September 15, 1950 in Compton, Ca. Surrounded by his family, he lost his valiant battle with cancer on September 17, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Ruth E. Phipps, his mother in law Carol Regan, sons Chuck and wife Nicole Phipps, and Adam Phipps, daughters Michelle and husband Michael Long, Jolanda and husband Matthew McAfee and Stacy Guzman; grandkids Sarah Muro, Travis Teague, Paige Phipps, Cheyenne McAfee, Kelsea Holder, Austin Phipps , Sydney Long, Zack Long, Randy Teague, Chloe McAfee, Drake Phipps, Ciara Phipps, Mimi Guzman, and Roman Guzman; great granddaughter, Zoey Smith; siblings Lee Phipps, Jaci and husband Chris Salazar, Rebecca Bynacker, Nancy and husband Ed Carr, Jodi Phipps, Dwayne Overby, Sherry Overby, Shane Francis, and Robyn Francis, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Daughtry and Jacquelyn Phipps, and Jerry and Jo Francis.
Glenn served in the US Marine Corps and served two tours in Vietnam. Glenn and his family moved to Taft, Ca in 1983 where he worked as a truck driver until his retirement. Glenn was very active in the Taft community as a baseball and softball coach from 1985 to 1989.
