Glenn L. Brunk, 68, formerly of Huntington Beach, CA, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019 with the loves of his life by his side. These included Cindy, his wife of 43 years, his three amazing children and spouces, Jessica Rueff & Ronnie, Kristie Brunk-Vickers & Micah and Shawn Brunk & Chelsea, as well his being the best Pop-Pop to his eight grandchildren, Zoie, Shayla, Kali, Emme, Kendyll, Harper, Zane and Malakai Glenn.
He is also survived by his mother, Joyce M. Brunk, of Sun City, CA and his sister, Debbie Wildey and husband, Bob, as well as many nieces and nephews, all located in Florida as well California. He was predeceased by his father, Dale E. Brunk of Sun City, CA, as well as his brother Steven Brunk of Menifee, CA.
He had an amazing fulfilling life filled with surfing (his main love) as well as golfing, racquetball, riding his Harley, scuba diving and just being at the beach.
Glenn served 2 years in the U.S. Army as a young man entering at the age of 17, stationed from California to Germany and back again. His first love was always the water, whether it be the Pacific Ocean or the Atlantic. He also was a Merchant Mariner, traveling from Jacksonville to England on the Alcoa Seaprobe, a research vessel, which was able to assist in locating the wreck of the USS Monitor which was missing for over a century. This is where he went from deckhand to learning how to Dive.
Glenn’s most memorable memories consisted of his surfing buds, from California to Florida and his almost 30 years as a Fed-Ex Courier. He helped open one of the first Federal Express stations in Long Beach, CA, making the best of friends, moving on to Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, San Diego and San Marcos. When he transferred (unwillingly) to Florida…he also began to continue his Fed-Ex Family of friends, at Fed-Ex, Cocoa as well as Melbourne, until retiring in April 2005. This was his happiest moment. “Just get me to 25/55” was his motto. 25 years + with Fed-Ex and making it to 55. Best years of his life just doing exactly what he wanted to do every day and always waiting for his wife, Cindy, aka “Boober” to come home from work sitting at the pool with a Bud in one hand and a glass of wine waiting for her.
