Glenn Richard Jackson was born April 8, 1927 at Quicks Run, Kentucky to Boyd Jackson and Evalyn (Secrest) Jackson and departed this life Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 90.

Glenn attended high school at Vancesburg, Kentucky. Glenn volunteered for the Navy Seabees at the age of 16. He entered and began serving his country at the age of 17 in 1944. He turned 18 on Okinawa Island, April 8, 1945, 4 months before the atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasoki, Japan. The Seabees were entrusted with building airstrips on Okinawa Island and after the dropping of the atomic bomb the Seabees were instrumental in rebuilding Okinawa. Discharged from the Navy, he was called back to active duty and joined the Air Force and served as a supply sergeant. Glenn was stationed out of Fairbanks, Alaska and served on the Polar Ice Cap.

On April 14, 1952, Glenn was united in marriage to Evelyn Donna Rae Hurst at Rosedale Church, Hall County, Nebraska. The couple resided in Winchester, Ohio and then across the river at Tollesboro, Kentucky. In 1959, the couple along with their children Danny, Jeff and Pam returned to a farm near Doniphan. At this time, Glenn was working for Abbott’s Dairy, Hastings, Nebraska.

Glenn’s relationship with Christ was a central part of his life. He was baptized in Quicks Run River, Kentucky around the age of eight and continued serving the Lord during his life in various churches in Ohio, Kentucky and Nebraska. Glenn served in many capacities such as elder, treasurer, teacher, youth leader and also some preaching. He was faithful in serving the Lord no matter where he lived or worked.

Glenn was preceeded in death by parents and seven siblings.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn; sons, Danny Jackson and wife Linda, Superior, Nebraska; Jeff Jackson and wife Earllynn, Prescott Valley, Arizona; daughters Pam Curran and husband Charlie, Edmond, Oklahoma; and Kim Young and husband Kirk of Superior, Nebraska. Glenn is survived by 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Glenn is remembered fondly by his family, friends, and satisfied customers.
