Glenn E. George, age 79, of Salem and also of West Palm Beach, Florida, died at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at the Hospice House in Poland, Ohio. He was born August 9, 1934 in Waterford, Ohio, son of the late Everett and Marie (Tullis) George. Glenn was the owner operator of the Glenn’s Truck Repair for 20 years, retiring in 2000. He also worked as a diesel mechanic for A & P, Food Haul, and Schwans in Ohio and Florida. He was a graduate of the Technical Diesel School in Lisbon, and a member of the Damascus United Methodist Church. Other memberships include the Moose Lodge in Florida, Elks Lodge in Florida, and Life member of both the Salem Fraternal Order of Eagles # 316 and the Towing Assoc. of Ohio. Survivors include his wife, Geraldine “Geri” (Smith) George, whom he married March 26, 1988; daughters, Karen Glendening of Alliance, Linda Guinter of Alliance, and Brenda Weingart-George of Sebring; stepdaughter, Kay A. Colucci of New Castle, PA; stepsons, Kreg N. Dietzel of Fernandina Beach, FL and Brent M. Dietzel of Chardon, OH; a sister, Dorothy Gumbel of Rogers; 6 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Glenn George Jr. in 1978; brothers, Kenny and Bob George.
