Glenn Arthur Gregory, of Troutman, passed away from Parkinson’s-related complications on Sunday, July 7, 2013 surrounded by family. He was 82.
Glenn was born on Sept. 23, 1930 to the late Arthur Glenn and Della Mae Gregory. The eldest son in a family of 10 children, he was born in Iredell County. After graduating from Celeste Henkel High School in 1949, he enlisted as a private in the United States Army and served for two years during the Korean War.
After completing his tour, he returned home to Statesville. He met his wife, Edith, when she biked by him and struck his fancy. He kept finding ways to talk to her, and later, they wed in 1953. They have two sons, Blaine and Scott.
Glenn was a maintenance mechanic for 24 years at Fiber Industries in Salisbury, where he retired from in 1989. He loved to garden, and especially loved to eat what he harvested himself.
