Glenda “Gay” (Geiler) Quandt, 70, of Centralia, passed away Friday, November 23, 2018 at Central Dupage Northwestern Hospital in Winfield, Illinois.
She was born January 19, 1948 in Salem, daughter of Harry and Dollie (Butts) Geiler. She married Philip Quandt on March 6, 1974 in Salem and he survives in Centralia.
In addition to her husband of 44 years, Philip Quandt of Centralia, she is also survived by four sons: Mike Casseday and wife Tammy of Centralia, Bart Casseday and special friend Jenita Colclasure of Farina, Shane Quandt of Ellis Grove, and Eric Quandt and wife Melissa of Walnut Hill; seven grandchildren: Adam Casseday, Amber Casseday, Zachary Cassedy, Leah Diss, Luke Smith, Keegan Quandt, and Aria Quandt; two great-granddaughters: Hadlea Casseday and Emma Casseday; a brother: Bryce Geiler and wife Shirley of Kinmundy; five sisters-in-law: Dorothy Geiler of Kinmundy, Theresa Stiven and husband Craig of St. Charles, Benita Langenfeld and husband Dean of Centralia, Regina VanGeem and husband Jim of Carol Stream and Angela Schnake and husband Randy of Irvington; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Bob Geiler and Bruce Geiler, and two sisters: Betty Jenkins and husband Ershal and Joyce Potter and husband Lawrence.
Gay retired from the State of Illinois after 30 years. She worked at Warren G. Murray Center and Centralia Correctional Center during those 30 years. After she retired she worked 5 plus years at Kaskaskia College in the Culinary Department. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Centralia. Gay was passionate about organ donation. She would have been overjoyed to know that she was helping many individuals. Gay was an avid reader, loved gardening and cooking but most of all love spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
