Gladys Viola Froning, 89, of Freeport, died April 19, 2013, at Freeport Rehabilitation & Care Center.
Born March 10, 1924 in Orangeville she was the daughter of Godfred and Lena (Mueller) Arn. She married Robert Froning July 26, 1948 in Freeport. He preceded her in death on February 6, 1961.Gladys worked at Burgess Batter, Olson’s Soil Testing Lab, and Economy Fire & Casualty. After her retirement in 1990 she worked as a receptionist at the YWCA.Gladys came to know Christ as her personal savior as a teenager. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Freeport where she taught Sunday school.Gladys enjoyed reading, writing, cooking, and baking (especially pies).She loved time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughters, Mary (Richard) Zettle of Forreston, and Rebecca Sciutto of Freeport; her son-in-law, Timothy Sciutto of Freeport; her grandchildren, Michael (Shaunna) Zettle of Forreston, Jennifer (Derek) Croffoot, Charity Sciutto both of Freeport, and Stephen Zettle of German valley; her great grandchildren, Jackson Froning, Ryley Froning, Connor Croffoot, and Eliza Croffoot all of Freeport; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son; seven sisters; five brothers; and two infant great grandchildren.
