Gladys Vera was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico on September 23, 1932.  A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she accompanied her Air Force husband and family throughout many countries around the world.  She was a stay-at-home mom who put God and family first and took care of the family whenever her husband was deployed away from home.  She was very creative and artistic – oil painting, ceramics, quilling, and cloth-making, adding a special touch to the clothes that she designed and created.  But her real passion was gardening, where she displayed a green thumb especially with roses, orchids, and hibiscus.  She is survived by her husband, Nelson, and 3 children – Nelson Thomas Vera from Colorado Springs, CO; Glenn Vera, from Melbourne, FL; and Arlene Elizabeth Carlock from Orlando, FL, as well as 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
