Gladys Irene (Thompson) Pennington Walters, 85 of Centralia, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Gladys was born December 20, 1930 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, daughter of James Thompson and Bertha (Melton) Thompson. She married Alvin Pennington in 1959 and he preceded her in death on March 19, 2001.
She later married Tom Walters. She is survived by four children: Carolyn Carpenter and husband George of Centralia, Ronnie Gene Schroeter and special friend Cyd Ball of Centralia, Sherri Feazel of Centralia, and Tena Burton and special friend Larry Garrison of Centralia; 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Leona Oller and husband Bill of Centralia; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son: Tommy Williams, a daughter: Susie Williams, a grandson: Larry Lee Burton, one great-grandson: Conner Carpenter, one great-granddaughter: Alexis Miller, six brothers, and two sisters. Gladys was of the Baptist Faith. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and canning.
She also enjoyed planting flowers, watching hummingbirds, and drinking her cup of coffee. Shopping, crosswords, and word searches are a few other hobbies she enjoyed. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.
