Obituary

WATSONTOWN — Gladys Marie Dinkins McIntyre, 85, of East Eighth Street, Watsontown, passed away Friday, April 11, 2008 at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village where she had been residing the past few weeks.

Born December 30,1922 in Thorpe, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Frances (Adams) Dinkins. Her husband, Charles H. McIntyre, Sr., preceded in her in death in 1970.

Mrs. McIntyre spent most of her life in West Virginia until relocating to her son’s home in Watsontown in 1987.

A restaurant manager in Welch, West Virginia for most of her working years, she spent a few years in Florida where she worked in retail management during the 1970s. Earlier in her life she left home and secured her first job in Washington, D.C.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 8, Welch, West Virginia.

She loved to travel, especially with her great friend Mabel Duty of Cleveland, OH; enjoyed shopping and dining out, especially going for pizza, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was very devoted to her family pets and was an avid fan of crossword puzzles.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law: Charles H. and Darlene McIntyre, Watsontown; two grandsons: Jonathan McIntyre of Virginia Beach, VA and James McIntyre of Havelock, NC; and a sister and her husband: Frances and John Presley of Anawalt, West Virginia.

Preceding her in death besides her husband were a sister, Ellen Blevins and two brothers: Joe H. and Tom Dinkins.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at Delaware Run Wesleyan Church, 5570 Musser Lane, Watsontown with the Rev. Michael Reece officiating. Friends are invited to call at the church from 10 to 11 AM Saturday.

A memorial service is also being planned for May 2, 2008 in West Virginia.

The family suggests contributions in her memory be made to the Alzheimers Association, 71 North Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main Street, Watsontown.
