Gladys I. Slagle Mikkelsen, 93, Anderson, died January 29, 2008 at her daughter’s residence. She was born January 4, 1915 in Mosgrove, Pennsylvania, and resided in Anderson. She lived in the Youngstown, Ohio area most of her life, moving here in 1999.

She was a homemaker. She was the summer cook at Camp Stambaugh Boy Scout Camp during some of the years her husband was camp ranger. Gladys was a member of Simon Road Church of God in Youngstown. She was a writer, very involved with the Boy Scouts and active in her church. She had a deep and abiding love for her family and friends and they for her.

She is survived by her children, Donna Andrean of Melborne, Florida, Lois Ervin Rockhill of Anderson, Carl A. Mikkelsen Judy Wilks of Canfield, Ohio, Fay Decker of Plantation, Florida and Bruce Jennie Benson Mikkelsen of Wellston, Michigan; 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Mikkelsen married Oct 7, 1939 who passed away July 17, 1995; parents, Clarence & Mary Irene Shea Slagle and siblings, Lela Ramsey, Thelma Stephenson, Harry Slagle, Margarite Slagle, Laura Slagle, Elva Harsney, Lois Cancio, Earl Slagle and Betty Hinrichs. Cremation will take place.
