Gladys Elizabeth Boodhoo, affectionately known as Peggy, transitioned from this life to eternal life on Friday, January 12, 2018. She departed her earthly existence peacefully in the home of her beloved daughter, Michelle.
Peggy was born on December 24, 1938 in Silver Spring, MD, matriculated through the Montgomery County school system and graduated from Carver High School, the only black high school in the county. After graduation, Peggy was employed by Howard University as medical secretary.
Peggy joined Lee Memorial in the 70’s. She began to serve in many capacities. She sang in the choir, served as an usher, was a member of the Lay Organization, the Missionary Society, the Stewardess Board and many other ministries. She loved with a passion the Montgomery County Singing Convention, a group of five Montgomery County churches that meet each 5th Sunday, rotating from church to church, to praise God, sing songs and enjoy each other’s fellowship. Sis Peggy served as historiographer to the Convention.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Herbert and Ada Greene and four siblings, Richard and Michael Greene, Diane Reddix and Marsha Addison.
Peggy is survived by six children: Cornell (Myong), Michelle, Dana, Sharron, Ray Gassaway and Sheree (Calvin) Fontaine; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five sisters, Dorothy Cobey, Joan Weaver (Andre), Delores Gassaway, Darlene Prather and
Marsha Addison (Eric); nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
