Gladys D. Babcock (98) went to be with the Lord on May 8 in Boise surrounded by family. Gladys was the 2nd of 3 daughters born to Walter R. McDowell and Hazel L. Moore McDowell on 4/12/1917 in Montana. While Gladys was a toddler, the family moved to her beloved Idaho. Her nick name, Happy B, typified her disposition, despite the fact that before the age of 10, she had lost her mother and older sister and later her first born child.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband James W. Babcock, Jr. in 1971, (her Jim), her sister Mildred Howry of Great Falls, Montana in 2008, her daughter Diane Babcock in 2011, and her great grandson Nicholas J. Hart in March of this year. She is survived by 4 daughters; Sandra Harms of Boise, Kathy Totten (Gary) of Cumming, Anne Kaserman (Paul) of Emmett, and Suzanne Bosch (Frank) of Meridian; her son Jim Babcock (Cyndi) of Cumming, Georgia; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The Lord has blessed our family by giving us many wonderful years with our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Happy B.
