Giro “Jerry” Brigante passed away peacefully at his home in Crestview, Florida on Sunday, February 15, 2015. Jerry was 79 years old. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 26, 1935. He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Moulton Brigante. He was a proud father and is survived by his children, Samantha Brigante Lambert and husband Scott, Geoffrey Giro Brigante, Jerry Lane Brigante, Paige Taylor Smith and Billy Lee Taylor, Jr. He was a wonderful grandfather to Reagan Smith, Mackenzie Taylor, Chandler Smith, Drew Lambert, Alex Lambert, Madison Taylor and Devonie Brigante. His brother, Michael R. Brigante and sister, Julia Melloy and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.
He is preceded in death by his parents Giro L. and Bertha Brigante and his younger brother, Ralph Brigante.
Before beginning his family, Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Ironically the day he received his draft notice he was notified that he was being traded from the Milwaukee Braves to his beloved New York Yankees as a pitcher. Jerry moved to Okaloosa County in 1969 as manager of Sears and was a member of the Sons of Italy.
