Ginette Millard Strickland, 88, died Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North MS in Oxford, MS..m. at St….m. prior to the service in the Parish Hall.. Born in Paris, France, to the late Edouard and Alice Vétois Millard, Mrs. Strickland grew up in Paris and Aubigny-sur-Nère. She met and married her husband in France and then moved to the United States in 1948. In her early years in Oxford, she taught children private French lessons. She, along with her husband, were instrumental in the creation of the twinning of Oxford and Aubigny-sur-Nère. Ginette was also an accomplished painter and delighted her friends and family with her French culinary skills.. She is survived by her daughter, Michèle Strickland Marum and her husband, James of McLean, VA; a son, Dr. William M.E. Strickland and his wife, Susan of Oxford, MS; five grandchildren, Gillian Marum Russell and her husband, Dan, Stephanie Marum, Becket Marum, Christopher Strickland and Garrett Strickland and his wife, Joey and two great grandchildren, Cecelia and Wyatt Russell.. Strickland’s memory may be made to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 113 South 9th Street, Oxford, MS 38655 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 332 N.
