Griswold – Gilton A. Plourde, 69, of Chiou Dr., beloved husband of forty-seven years of Micheline “Mimi” (Morin) Plourde, died peacefully Wednesday morning May 11, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ft. Kent, Maine, he was the son of the late Aime and Leontine Plourde.

On April 12, 1969 in New Britain, CT he was united in marriage to the former Micheline “Mimi” (Morin).

Gil worked for many years in the maintenance department for the City of Norwich Housing Authority. He was a member of the East Great Plains Volunteer Fire Dept., the Knights of Columbus White Cross Council 13 in Norwich, and was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Thomas/St. Anne Church in Voluntown. Gil & Mimi also spent a great deal of time over the years loving and caring for many foster children.

Surviving is his wife Mimi, three sons Gilton Plourde and his wife Lisa Guile-Plourde of Norwich, Melvin Plourde of Griswold, and Jason Plourde of Omaha, NE; a daughter Carrie Plourde-Krapf and her husband Edward Krapf of Lisbon; three brothers Roy Plourde of TN, Elson Plourde of FL, and Wallace Plourde of Manchester; five sisters Lucy Martin of South Windsor, Lillian Caron of Lebanon, Bernice Roy, Carol Pelletier, and Glenda Plourde all of ME; seven grandchildren Kassandra, Joshua, Dustin, Noelle, Dani, Hannah, and Jami; a great grandson Grayson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many who loved him as “Daddy Gil”.He was predeceased by three brothers Ernie Plourde, Silvio Plourde, and Alton Plourde; and three sisters Phyllis Dominincus, Silvia Lévesque, and Theresa Michaud.
