FEDERICIGILDA V. (NEE VISCUSI)1929 – 2021Gilda Viscusi Federici of Broomall, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Gilda was the daughter of Maria and Pasquale Viscusi and grew up in South Philadelphia. Gilda was a 1947 graduate of South Philadelphia High School. She met her future husband, and love of her life, Lou, at a dance. Gilda and Lou were married at Our Lady of Loreto Church on October 10, 1953. While living in Southwest Philadelphia, Gilda and Lou started a family. They moved to Broomall in 1969. Gilda loved being a wife and mother – family dinners were full of good food and laughter. Gilda also worked at various jobs, primarily as a bookkeeper. She had a generous personality and always thought of others first. She had many lifelong friends including her “club” of girlfriends. Gilda was predeceased by her husband Lou, and her brothers Alphonso Viscusi and Ralph Viscusi and her grandson, Mark R. Miller.Gilda’s focus in life was her family. It was her great joy to raise three children, Linda Miller (Bob), Sandra Federici and Louis Federici (Carrie). She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. Gilda was passionate about the importance of education and inspired her children to work hard and strive to achieve their dreams. She had a deep sense of fairness and a warm open heart to people from all walks of life. Gilda especially loved her role as Nana. Her eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren were the delights of her life. To the very end, Gilda would be sure to ask about and send her love to each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed writing and sending greeting cards and Gilda never missed a birthday or anniversary. She loved to dance, play cards, and board games and would be the last to leave a party for fear of missing out! She loved Disney World – especially “It’s a Small World!” Gilda was passionate about cooking and imparted that love to many others. In the summer, she loved to be on the beach – “down the shore”.
