Emerson had said; “…It’s not the length of life in years, but the depth of a life well lived and loved…” Gilda A. “Jill” (nee Longo) Novak was a “Kool-Aid Mom”, a girl scout leader and adored being “Amma”, the very heart of a fun family, with an unmistakable “chowda & lobsta” New England accent. Jill enjoyed spending time in Atlantic City, Ohh those Wildwood days and pushing her feet into the warm sand of the LBI and Brigantine beaches. Seeing death as the end of life is just as seeing the horizon as the end of the ocean. After a protracted battle with cancer, in the late morning on Tuesday June 28, 2016, Gilda’s tide slipped away from the beach’s sand and just as every salty tear returns to the sea, she passed away peacefully at her home in Burlington Twp. at the age of 63 surrounded by family. Although we’re separated by death, we’re connected by love and that love turns us over from time to eternity.
Mrs. Novak was born on June 2, 1953, in Warwick, RI and had spent her formative years there. She had moved to Plainsboro NJ in 1990 and subsequently to Burlington Twp. She was a graduate of the Katherine Gibbs School of Business in Providence, RI and worked most recently as a legal secretary and dedicated professional of Hulse & Germano in Burlington. Jill was rooted in her family’s history and genealogy, she enjoyed crabbing, fishing and camping at Strawberry Park in Preston, CT and at many of Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Parks. Jill stood in awe watching the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds at air shows and cheered on the ponies from under her derby hat. A mother is the truest friend we have and her love remains infinite. Mrs. Novak is the daughter of the late Antonio & Helena (nee Sanocki) Longo.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 34 years, Gerard “Jerry” Novak of Burlington and her daughters; Stacy & her husband Tom Ransom of Burlington and Stephanie & her husband Jim Trout of Elkridge, MD. She is the proud “Amma” of; Connor, Dylan, Austin and Madison and is also survived and will be sadly missed by her sister Frances & her husband Ernest Wright of West Warwick, RI as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
