Gilberto Guzman, affectionally known as GPa, passed away on January 21, 2022.

The son of Juan and Sofia Guzman, Gilberto was born July 26, 1931, in Morovis, Puerto Rico.

Gilberto had a love of horses and worked in a stable at age 12. He worked at a container factory until his retirement in 1996 and continued to work various jobs well into his 80s.

He loved watching boxing and baseball and enjoyed playing dominoes, cards and making people laugh with his off-the-cuff humor.

He was a hard worker, a kind man, and a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed and his memory will live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Gilberto Guzman is survived by his Son, Gilberto Guzman, Jr. (Barbara-spouse), Daughter Wilma Magali Guzman (Cary-spouse), Son Daniel Guzman. Grandchildren, Vincent Santos (Sherrie-spouse), Brian Santos, Cassandra Guzman (Jessica-spouse), Alex Guzman, and Vita Guzman. Great-grandchildren, Kyle, Jarrod, Jordan, Damien, Sammy, Tiana, Dylan, Addison, and Carly. Great great grandchild Molly. Sisters Sara, Carmen, Rosine, and Ida. Brothers Arturo and Jose. Numerous nieces and nephews. Former spouses Teresa Deiudicibus and Anatilde Guzman. He is preceded in death by Father Juan Guzman, Mother Sofia Gonzales, wife Blanca Lydia Mendez, and Son Nelson Guzman.

Special thank you to his second family at the Fort Walton Rehabilitation Center where he spent his last two years being lovingly cared for by the staff and residents.

“Para que sepas” (so you know).  This was one of his favorite sayings, especially after winning at dominoes.
