Gilbert A. Solano “Tino”, 85, passed away October 13, 2020 in Avondale, CO.  Born April 27, 1935 in Springer, New Mexico. Preceded in death by parents John and Frances Solano, siblings, Frances, Ramona, George, and in-laws Charles and Maude Montoya.  Gilbert retired from Pueblo Depot Activity as a truck driver and School District #70 as a janitor.  He married Leta Montoya the love of his life for 65 years.  He is survived by loving wife Leta and his children Bill and Gerard Solano, Nancy (Rick) Ortiz, Sandy (Roger) Martinez.  Grandchildren Kim, Justin (Liz), Nick (Stevie), Pam (Tyler), Rickey, Roger (Annie), Darren (Chantel), Amanda (David), Jordan and 18 great-grandchildren. Also survived by siblings John Solano, Anita Espinoza and Sarah Marquez.  Gilbert loved to play softball in his younger days and was a pitcher for the Pueblo Army Depot and the Pueblo Charros.  He enjoyed working as a janitor at South Mesa and Avondale Elementary and would stand and high five the kids as they pass through the halls.  Watching his grandchildren play sports was one of his favorite past times and he was their biggest fan.  He held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They always put a smile on his face. His daily activity was sitting outside watching the cars go by and waving to everybody who honked.
