Gilbert Garcia, 67
Gilbert Garcia departed with our Lord on September 22, 2021. He was born April 6, 1954 in Passaic, New Jersey to Gilberto Mendez and Tomasa Delgado Viera. A resident of Okeechobee for 14 years, he served in the United States Army for 26 years and 24 combined years of Federal service as a Federal contractor and then a Department of Defense General Schedule Civilian. He was a Presbyter and member of Fountain of Life Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He enjoyed working on his home garden and plants with his grandchildren, spending time with his family, and watching sunrises and sunsets, especially over a beautiful body of water; he loved Okeechobee Lake.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Tomasa Delgado Viera, and granddaughter, Eliana Faith Kluge.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Maritza Garcia, of Okeechobee, FL; son, Gilbert Garcia, Jr., of Miami, FL; daughters, Milwida Kluge, of Fort Collins, CO, and Kelia Garcia, of Okeechobee, FL; 13 grandchildren; brother, James “Jimmy” Garcia Delgado, Kissimmee, FL; and sisters, Miriam Lugones, Minerva Garcia, of New Jersey, Raquel Mendez, of Camden, NJ, Eileen “Lita” Garcia, of Naguabo, PR, and Hilda Mendez, of Cabo Rojo, PR.
