Gilbert “Ethan” Williams went to be with his mom on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, following a tragic event that ended his life too soon.  He was 19 years old and would have been a sophomore at the University of Cincinnati with the goal of studying graphic design. He resided with his maternal grandparents, William and Tereasa Jamison, aunts, uncle and sister in Hilliard, Ohio for about the last ten years.  He was a 2022 graduate of Hilliard Darby High School.

Ethan was born December 3, 2003, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Briana L. Jamison and Gilbert Williams.  His mother is deceased (October 2014). He lived with his little sister, Leila E. Jamison. In addition to Leila, Ethan lived with his uncle, Nathaniel Jamison, but due to their closeness in age, they were more like brothers -most people thought they were brothers and were shocked to find out otherwise! Besides Nathan, Ethan also grew up with his aunts, Briana Sherman (Austin Sherman) and Janae Jamison (Chris Yates), who also considered him like a little brother. He frequently shared bed space with Pluto or Brantz.

Ethan had a large extended family who loved him dearly: Beverly Bockey, Great-grandmother; Glenna Jamison (Durrett) and Stanley Durrett, maternal grandparents; Alisha Jamison (Adam Lee), aunt; Timothy D. Williams, Sr & Juliet C. Dorris- Williams, paternal grandparents; Kimberly Williams, aunt; Tiffany Mason-Williams, aunt; and many other aunts, uncles and cousins spread across the country.

Besides “blood” family, Ethan was extremely close to so many people and considered them family such as the Kearns, Goffs, Hientons, Watkins and too many more to name.  He had a best friend, turned girlfriend, Lexi Goff, that he worshipped and would have done anything for her.  Lexi shared that no matter how hard life was for Ethan, “he always made sure people he loved were taken care of”.  His loyalty to his friends and family was unwavering.   Ethan wanted his family and friends to be proud of him and worked hard toward this.

Ethan was an extremely talented and creative artist often sketching, drawing and painting to pass the time and share with the people he loved. He had a bright future using this talent.  When his friends were asked to describe Ethan – unanimously they said “goofy”.  He was always the clown, always the one making people laugh, probably at times when they shouldn’t have been laughing!  Other words that friends and family used to describe Ethan include loyal, free-spirited, caring, sensitive, loving, dependable, sweet and selfless (unless it was a DQ Blizzard).

Ethan had a passion for sports.  He played a few years of football and loved track and field – mainly the field, not so much running the track! He was an Ohio State Buckeye fan, as well as a Cincinnati Bengals fan.  He would whoop some behind and talk trash when playing his video games.  He also enjoyed fishing and hanging out at the barn with his friend Gavin.

Ethan was FEARLESS OF LIFE – and lived it to its fullest.

Ethan’s final gift to the world was donating his tissue and organs.

It is now time for me to move on,

Into the dusk but also the dawn.

I will remain as the morning comes,

As I’ve left behind a gift for someone.

So another may walk, may talk, may see,

Where their life was locked, I offered a key.

I am a donor to someone in need.

My final gift, my final deed.
