Gilbert Banks, Sr., 92, of Jacksonville, died Monday, June 23, 2008, at Passavant Area Hospital.
He was born March 14, 1916, the son of Claude L. Banks and Mary Waddie Banks Oliver. He married Mazie E. Norton on May 13, 1938, in Bowling Green, MO. and she survives.
He is also survived by one son, Phillip (wife, Rosetta) Banks of Jacksonville; nineteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, Gilbert Banks, Jr. (surviving wife, Juanita of Atlanta, GA.) and Claude L. Banks; one daughter, Judy Daniels (surviving husband, Frank of Victorville, CA.); two grandchildren; two brothers, Anderson and Frank Banks; and three sisters, Bernadine and Claudia Banks and Gertrude M. Davis.
Mr. Banks worked many years for Anderson Clayton in Jacksonville, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Bethel A.M.E Church.
