UPTON – Gilbert Andrew Peck, 89, entered eternal life on Thursday, March 30, with a smile on his face and holding the hand of a beloved friend. He joins his wife of 67 years, Dorothea (Krome) Peck, who passed away in June, 2005.
Mr. Peck was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 19, 1916, one of six children of John Burt and Mary Jane (Newell) Peck. He retired in 1972 from Carrier Corporation, where he was the branch manager for the Paterson, New Jersey office. He and his wife moved to Phoenix, AZ and lived there for 15 years. In 1987 they moved to Upton to be near family.

Mr. Peck leaves a daughter Marilyn (Peck) Holman and her husband Alfred of Upton, founders of the Upton and Mendon Town Crier; a son, Gilbert Carl Peck and his wife Mary Anne of Gainesville, FL; one sister, Edith Bassett of Deerfield Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Andy Holman of Upton, Laura Graetz and her husband Randy of Gainesville, and Matthew Peck and his wife Riley Schwass, also of Gainesville, who were married on April 1, 2006, just 2 days after Mr. Peck’s passing. He also leaves two great grandchildren, Katie Ella Graetz and John Randall Graetz of Gainesville. He was predeceased by two brothers, Rev. Edward N. Peck and John D. Peck, and two sisters, Grace Buhler and Alberta Johnson.
