Born in Baakline, Lebanon, on May 9, 1934, one of eight children to the late Adel and Samieh Hamadeh, passed away November 26, 2018 at Kaiser Hospital, Oakland.  In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by his children;  Paul, Ginan (Jon) Henson, grandchildren Anais and Avery Henson; brother, Mounir (Mona), sister, Mona (Raja) and numerous beloved extended family. He also leaves his loyal dog Travis, his constant companion and walking partner.

Ghaleb graduated from American University of Beirut (AUB) (BS, MS, 1962) and received a Ph.D from Cornell University in Crop Production Physiology in 1967.  He started his career with Allied Chemical in New York, and later joined Kaiser Trading (Aluminum) in Oakland.  In 1976 he founded and served as a managing partner with Trans Meridian, Inc., a leading organization in plant nutrients and petrochemicals.

He was devoted to his family, active in his community and was recognized by the International Institute of the East Bay as an outstanding representative of his country, Lebanon in 1986.

Throughout his life he enjoyed travel, good food and company.  An avid skier, he spent much of his time in Tahoe.  Friends remember him as a loyal Raiders fan, and a founding PSL ticket holder on their return from Los Angeles.  He also followed soccer, having played at the AUB and on Lebanon’s national team.

He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, story telling and sense of humor.
