Gertrudes N. Manalisay, 76, was called by our heavenly Father on Friday, February 25, 2011 in Las Cruces, NM. She was born on Tuesday, March 27, 1934 in Merizo, Guam to Joaquin Taijeron and Magdalena (Quinene) Nangauta.

She was born and raised on the island of Guam. She grew up in the village of Malesso (Merizo) in May 2002 moved to Alamogordo to be with family. Gertrudes was famous for her red rice recipe. She enjoyed being around her family and friends and also enjoyed babysitting her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her children, John Patrick Nangauta, Patricia and Clarence Bellard and Willaim A. Cruz all of Alamogordo; grandchildren, Germaine Marie Garrido Nangauta, Howard Santiago of Guam, Chaka Iruka and Robert Earl Proulx, Garett Anthony Manalisay, Alicia Elizabeth Cruz, Patrick Angelo Cruz all of Alamogordo; great grandchildren, Ayumani Simon, Kaja Theresa, Zaria Renee Proulx and Amaya Bellard; brothers and sisters, Juana Cruz Nangauta of CA, Joaquin Quinene Nangauta of CA, Jesus Quinene and Dolores Champaco Nanagauta, Mae Candaso Nangauta of Guam; aunt, Delfina T. Aguigui of Alamogordo; aunt and uncle, Galo and Vicenta Cruz of El Paso, TX, whom she spent the last eight years with.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Isidro Castro Manalisay; parents, Magdalena Quinene and Joaquin Taijeron Nangauta; mother-in-law, Nieves Castro Manalisay, Familian Baliga; daughter, Alicia Rose Nangauta; daughter-in-law, Nora Cruz Garrido Nangauta; bothers, Antonio, Jose and Vecente Nangauta; sister, Gertrudes Quinene Nangauta; sisters and brother-in-law, Ana C. Nangauta of Merizo, Guam and Socorro and Jesus Rivera of Agat, Guam.

She will be greatly missed by special cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends all over the island of Guam and in the US.

The family will greet friends from 4until 8 p.m.
