Gertrude M. “Trudy” Clark, 94, formerly of Upland, died Tuesday morning, November 24, 2015, in Colonial Oaks Health and Rehab. She was born in Corry, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Oscar and Agnes (Bunce) Johnson. She graduated from Corry High School with the class of 1939. She earned her degree in Education from Taylor University in 1970 and from Ball State University in 1973. She also earned an endorsement for Special Education from Taylor University. Trudy married the love of her life, Russell M. Clark, Sr., on September 22, 1942, in Miami Beach. Since 1965, they made their home in Upland. In 2008, they moved to Marion, where he preceded her in death, on December 3, 2010. Mrs. Clark was a substitute teacher for Eastbrook Community Schools Corporation for several years and Marion Community Schools. Mrs. Clark was a member of the Upland United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was formerly a member of the College Women’s Club, PTA, ISTA, and Marion Teachers Association. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ for several different churches and held district and local offices in the United Methodist Churches in Pennsylvania and Indiana. She was a former music teacher and published author in the field of Education. Survivors include four sons, Rev. Dr. Russell M. (Martha) Clark, Jr., David M. (Cathy) Clark, Rev. James M. (JoAnne) Clark, and William M. Clark; seven grandchildren, Hannah Harmon, Corrie (Justin) Tanous, Kelsey Clark, William Reed Clark, Matthew Clark, Rob (Christina) Clark and Derek Clark; two sisters-in-law, Esther Hopkins, and Miriam (Ralph) Smith; three great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Clark and Ruth Hall.
