Gertrude Elizabeth Kramp, loving and devoted mother and caregiver, went to Heaven on Sunday, September 15, 2019, at the age of 87 in her home in Anchorage, surrounded by her loving family. Known by her family on the East Coast as “Gertie,” and by her family and friends in Alaska and elsewhere as “Trudy.” She was born on July 29, 1932, In Princeton, New Jersey to John and Gertrude VanKirk; she was one of ten children. Trudy married Robert W. Kramp and moved to Alaska in 1958, where she was a homemaker and raised seven children on a homestead in Eagle River, later moving to Willow, Alaska until her last three children graduated. She then went on to work as a CNA, retiring from the Palmer Pioneer Home. She was known to respond at a moment’s notice to the needs of her patients and their families, even on her days off.
Trudy is survived by her daughters Karen (Rick) Erdie, Brenda (Neal) Bullock, Barbara (Darrell) Black, Tammy (Arley) Delaney, and Kandy (Marty) Schroeder; sons Tim (Betty) Kramp and Darryl (Candy) Kramp; 22 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson. Also survived by one brother, two sisters, and many nieces and nephews. The family stated, “Our precious mom went to Heaven on Sunday. She is with Jesus now; she left a legacy of LOVE and Kindness. She was the sweetest most devoted mom. If you knew and loved our mother, please come to celebrate her life with us.”
