Gertrude M. Smull, formerly of High St., passed away peacefully at age 100 on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Moravian Kings Daughters Home, Bethlehem. She was the wife of the late Judson G. Smull, Jr., who died in 1979. Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Mabel (Brunner) Miller. Gertrude graduated from Moravian Preparatory School in 1932, and attended Moravian College. She later graduated from Bethlehem Business College in 1935. She served as a secretary to ten Moravian ministers, with her last position being at her home church of West Side Moravian Church, where she was a lifelong member, sang in the choir, and served as a Sacristan with her husband. In later years, she and her husband owned and operated the Jud Smull Shop in the Lehigh Shopping Center. Survivors: her four children, Louise Negley and her husband Scott of Kennebunk, ME, Margaret Hopper and her husband Richard of Spartanburg, SC, Thomas Smull and his wife Deborah of Bethlehem, Mary Arguelles and her husband Frank of West Reading; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Elizabeth Miller Sterrett of Dennis, MA; brother Dr. William B. Miller of Worcester, MA; 8 nieces and nephews. Gertrude was predeceased by her sister, Doris Miller Hartmann.
