Gertrude Louise “Sally” Geisler, 92, of Jacksonville, IL died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
She was born July 13, 1920 in Lebanon, IL; the daughter of Emil J. and Odelia R. Schuetz Weber. She married Amos J. Haas in 1942 in Lebanon. She later married David J. Hinnau in 1965 in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death in 1966. She then married Charles Geisler in 1969 in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death in 1973.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Ashby Isenberg of Springfield and Bonnie Lindsey (companion, Jim Smith) of Murrayville; three grandchildren, Robin Ashby Overton (husband, Michael) and their daughter, Carly, of Jacksonville, FL, Jennifer Ashby Oliva (husband, James) of Ventura, CA, and Jason Lindsey (wife, Cheryl) and their children, Blake, Ryan, Morgan, and Adam, of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Edgar and Robert Weber; and her companion of 28 years, Edward Barnes.
Sally was a 1938 graduate of Lebanon High School and studied music at McKendree College. She was a medical secretary for several local physicians and Passavant Memorial Area Hospital. She later retired in 2002 following 17 years of service with the Morgan County Circuit’s Clerk office.
She was a well-known musician, playing the piano locally as “Fabulous Sally”. She was a long time member of Northminster Presbyterian Church where she served as choir director, organist, and elder for many years. She was a former member of ABWA and the “Sunshine Singers”. She enjoyed music and following her great grandchildren’s sports activities. In addition, Sally was an avid fan of St. Louis Cardinal Baseball and Illini Football.
